This tool converts GPS coordinates between decimal degrees (DD) and degrees-minutes-seconds (DMS) format. DMS-to-decimal conversion applies DD = D + M/60 + S/3600, with sign determined solely by the hemisphere selector (N/E positive, S/W negative) — enter the Degrees field as a positive value and use the Hemisphere dropdown to set North/South or East/West; any negative sign typed into the Degrees field is ignored in favor of the hemisphere selection. Decimal-to-DMS conversion reverses this by taking the integer degree, the integer minutes from the remaining fraction, and the remaining seconds, with the hemisphere inferred from the sign of the decimal value and the selected axis (latitude or longitude). Both formats represent the same point on the Earth's surface; no positional accuracy is added or removed during conversion.
