Privacy Policy
Last updated: 25 August 2026
BuildMetricLab is operated by Brightscale Labs Limited, a company registered in England & Wales (United Kingdom). This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information for visitors located in the United States, including the rights of California residents under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA).
What we collect
- Calculator inputs. The numbers you type into calculators are processed locally in your browser. They are not transmitted to our servers, logged, or stored on our end.
- Anonymous usage analytics. We record a per-page ping containing page path, approximate device type (mobile/desktop), and referrer hostname. This contains no cookies, no IP addresses, and no information that can identify you personally. It is not sold, shared for cross-context behavioral advertising, or combined with any other data set.
- Measurement analytics. We use Microsoft Clarity (aggregated heatmaps and anonymized session replays, on the calculator pages and in the Estimator, with calculator fields masked and the Estimator's whole workspace masked) and Google Analytics 4 (page views, referral source, approximate location derived from a truncated IP address, and device type, on the calculator pages only). Calculator inputs are never sent to either provider. These set cookies — see the Cookie Policy — and you can turn them off with the Cookie preferences link in the footer, or the one on the Estimator's Your details screen.
- Estimator. Nothing at all. It has no accounts, and every estimate built there stays in your own browser. See "The Estimator" below.
- Voluntary feedback. If you submit feedback through the site, we store the message plus any contact email you choose to provide so that we can reply. You can request deletion at any time.
The Estimator
The Estimator at buildmetriclab.com/estimator is where calculator results become a priced estimate you can print.
There is no account. You build a complete estimate, print it and export it without signing in, because there is nothing to sign in to. Everything you enter — job and section names, the client name and site address, line items and quantities, your prices, and your own business details — is held by your own browser and never reaches us. We collect no personal information from it under the CCPA, so there is nothing for us to sell, share for cross-context behavioral advertising, lose, or be compelled to hand over.
The client names and addresses you type belong to your business, not ours. We never see them, so we cannot contact those people, profile them, or use their details for any purpose of our own.
Your work does not survive clearing your site data, and we cannot restore it: the file you export is the only copy that lasts.
If you accepted analytics, Microsoft Clarity records how the app was used — with everything in the workspace masked, so the contents of your jobs are not in the recording either.
What we do not do
- We do not set advertising cookies, and we do not enable Google Signals, Google advertising features, or remarketing audiences — our use of Analytics is measurement only.
- We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We have not done so in the preceding 12 months and have no plans to start.
- We do not share your calculator inputs with anyone.
- We do not use your data to train AI models.
- We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have, contact us and we will delete it.
Who processes your data
- Microsoft (Clarity) — heatmaps and session replay. See Microsoft's Privacy Statement.
- Google (Analytics 4) — audience and page-performance measurement. See Google's Privacy Policy.
- InMobi (Choice) — the consent management platform that presents your privacy choices and records them. See InMobi's Privacy Policy.
- Cloudflare — hosting, content delivery, the worker that records the anonymous, cookieless usage ping described above, and the worker that serves the Estimator. That worker keeps no database: it sends the app to your browser, and your estimates stay there.
International data transfer
Because Brightscale Labs Limited operates from the United Kingdom, any voluntary feedback you send may be processed on servers located in the UK or European Economic Area. By contacting us you consent to this transfer. Nothing from the Estimator is transferred anywhere, because nothing from it reaches us. We do not need to transfer the anonymous analytics ping anywhere — there is no personal data inside it.
Your rights under California law (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to:
- Know what categories of personal information we collect about you and how we use it.
- Access the specific pieces of personal information we hold about you.
- Delete personal information we hold about you, subject to limited statutory exceptions.
- Correct inaccurate personal information.
- Limit the use of any "sensitive personal information" we hold (we collect none).
- Opt out of sale or sharing of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not sell or share personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of, and you will not see a "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" link — none is required.
- Non-discrimination. You will not receive different service for exercising any of these rights.
You may also designate an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf.
Your rights under other US state privacy laws
Residents of states with comprehensive privacy laws — including Virginia (VCDPA), Colorado (CPA), Connecticut (CTDPA), Utah (UCPA), Texas (TDPSA), Oregon, Montana, and others as those laws come into effect — generally have access, correction, deletion, portability, and opt-out rights similar to CCPA. Contact us using the address below to exercise any of them.
How to exercise your rights
Email contact@brightscalelabs.com from the address you would like us to verify against. We respond to verifiable consumer requests within 45 days as required by California law (extendable by a further 45 days where reasonably necessary, with notice).
Retention
We retain feedback messages only as long as needed to respond and maintain a basic service-quality record (typically 24 months), then delete them. We retain nothing from the Estimator: your estimates are kept by your own browser for as long as you keep them there. The anonymous analytics ping is retained in aggregate form only.
Changes
We may update this policy when our practices change. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the current version.
