This tool calculates the finished dimensions of a prefab shower pan from the alcove measurements entered by the user. It applies a fit-clearance deduction — typically 0.25 in per side (0.5 in total) per dimension — so the pan width equals alcove width minus clearance, and pan depth equals alcove depth minus clearance. This clearance accounts for out-of-plumb walls and installation tolerance common in prefab shower pan installations. The single-deduction variant (0.25 in total per dimension) is a recognized simplification of the more conservative two-sided approach.
