Privacy Policy
Last updated: 25 August 2026
BuildMetricLab is operated by Brightscale Labs Limited (registered in England & Wales). We take your privacy seriously and process personal data in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
What we collect
- Calculator inputs: the numbers you type into calculators are processed locally in your browser. They are not transmitted to our servers or stored on our end.
- Anonymous usage analytics (no cookies): when a calculator is used we record an anonymous event containing the tool, the name of the figure it produced, approximate country/region and device type (from network headers). The values you type and the results calculated from them are not transmitted. It contains no cookies, no IP addresses, and no information that can identify you personally.
- Optional analytics — Microsoft Clarity: if you consent to analytics through the InMobi Choice consent message, we load Microsoft Clarity on the calculator pages and in the Estimator, which records aggregated heatmaps and anonymised session replays to help us improve the tools. Input fields are masked, so the values you type are not captured, and in the Estimator the entire workspace is masked — jobs, clients, prices and all. Clarity runs only with your consent and you can withdraw it using the Cookie preferences link in the footer, or the one on the Estimator's Your details screen. See our Cookie Policy for the cookies it sets.
- Optional analytics — Google Analytics 4: the same consent loads Google Analytics 4, which records page views, referral source, approximate location (country/region, derived from a truncated IP address) and device type so we can see which calculators are used. Calculator inputs are never sent to Google. We do not enable Google Signals, advertising features or remarketing, so your visit is not used to target ads. Analytics runs only with your consent, withdrawable in the same way.
- Estimator: nothing, unless you choose to send us a problem report from it. It has no accounts, and every estimate built there stays in your own browser. See "The Estimator" below.
- Voluntary feedback: if you submit feedback through the site, we store the message plus any contact email you choose to provide, to reply to you. You can request deletion at any time.
The Estimator
The Estimator at buildmetriclab.com/estimator is where calculator results become a priced estimate you can print.
There is no account. You build a complete estimate, print it and export it without signing in, because there is nothing to sign in to. Everything you enter — job and section names, the client name and site address, line items and quantities, your prices, and your own business details — is held by your own browser and never reaches us. We store none of it, so there is nothing for us to share, sell, lose or be compelled to hand over. The client names and addresses you type belong to your business, not ours; we never see them.
It does not survive clearing your site data, and we cannot restore it: the file you export is the only copy that lasts.
If you accepted analytics, Microsoft Clarity records how the app was used — with everything in the workspace masked, so the contents of your jobs are not in the recording either.
Reporting a problem is the one thing in the Estimator that sends us anything, and only when you fill the form in and press Send. We receive what you typed, which screen you were on, your region, whether you keep your work in the browser or in a file, how many jobs are on the device, and your browser's user-agent string. The form lists all of it before you send. Your estimates are not included: no job or section names, no client name or site address, no quantities, prices or margin. The form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to check you are not a bot, which loads only when you open it. Reports go to the same place as reports from the calculator pages, and you can ask us to delete yours at any time.
What we do not do
- We do not set advertising cookies; we set analytics cookies only if you accept them.
- We do not sell personal data to third parties.
- We do not share your calculator inputs with anyone.
- We do not use your data to train AI models.
Who processes your data
- Microsoft (Clarity) — heatmaps and session replay, only after you consent. See Microsoft's Privacy Statement.
- Google (Analytics 4) — audience and page-performance measurement, only after you consent. Data may be processed outside the UK under Google's Standard Contractual Clauses. See Google's Privacy Policy.
- InMobi (Choice) — the certified consent management platform that shows the consent message and records your advertising and analytics consent choices. See InMobi's Privacy Policy.
- Cloudflare — hosting, content delivery, the worker that records the anonymous, cookieless usage events described above, and the worker that serves the Estimator. That worker keeps no database: it sends the app to your browser, and your estimates stay there.
Legal basis
The anonymous, cookieless usage analytics rely on our legitimate interest in understanding site usage to improve the tools. Microsoft Clarity and Google Analytics 4 rely on your consent (given through the InMobi Choice consent message). Feedback correspondence relies on your consent (pressing Send) — including a problem report sent from the Estimator, and the spam check that form runs, which rests on our legitimate interest in not being flooded with automated submissions. The Estimator needs no other legal basis: we process nothing else from it.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of any personal data we hold about you, and object to processing. Contact: contact@brightscalelabs.com.
If you are unhappy with how we handle your data you may complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
